A Advantech Case Study
Tunnel Management Service Provider in Norway needed a resilient, high-bandwidth network to support 24/7 tunnel operations—CCTV, PTZ PoE cameras, sensors, VoIP phones and traffic control—over a distributed topology spanning more than 100 km. They faced distance and EMI challenges that ruled out copper-only links, required PoE+ power for future high-power cameras, and demanded fast network redundancy and harsh-environment industrial hardware. Advantech was chosen to provide the networking solution, centered on the EKI-7710E-2CPI industrial PoE+ managed switch.
Advantech deployed EKI-7710E-2CPI units with eight IEEE 802.3af/at PoE ports (up to 30 W per port), dual Gigabit Copper/SFP combo ports for single-mode fiber (supporting links up to 120 km), wide -40 to +75°C operation, and X-Ring Pro redundancy (ultra-fast recovery <20 ms). The solution eliminated the need for dedicated power lines to cameras, enabled reliable long-distance data transfer and multicast video streaming, supported up to 250 devices, and provided remote PoE monitoring and IXM fast deployment. As a result, the Tunnel Management Service Provider achieved continuous, resilient surveillance and control with simplified power/cabling infrastructure and future-proofed expansion—all backed by Advantech’s industrial features and warranty.
