Food Production Company, a commercial bakery, faced inconsistent temperature and humidity in workstations and ingredient storage that caused frosting to slump and run. Seeking an alternative to costly PLC I/O wiring, the bakery required a battery-powered, wireless solution compatible with its existing Ignition SCADA — and engaged Advantech to address the challenge.

Advantech implemented a wireless environmental monitoring solution via its partner ecosystem, deploying Wzzard wireless temp/humidity nodes integrated with Inductive Automation’s Ignition. The IP67 Wzzard nodes eliminated power/data cabling and installation downtime, automatically created Ignition tags so data appeared within minutes, and allowed easy expansion of monitoring zones—resolving frosting quality issues while avoiding wiring costs and production interruptions.
