A Advantech Case Study
Media Infrastructure Company needed to move live 4K production from legacy SDI to an IP-based workflow but faced challenges around latency, media integrity, frame-accurate synchronization and the high bitrates of UHD (≈12 Gbps per stream) on mostly 10 GbE networks. To meet SMPTE and VSF standards and enable vendor interoperability, they engaged Advantech for IP media interfacing and network infrastructure, including VEGA series media adapters, VEGA HEVC appliances and high-performance switches.
Advantech deployed VEGA 3000 PCIe IP media adapters (VEGA-3000/3002), VEGA 6000 appliances (VEGA-6301/6311) and high‑performance ESP/VEGA switches to support SMPTE 2110/2022, PTP, intoPIX TICO/Sony LLVC and HEVC workflows. The solution enabled visually‑lossless mezzanine compression so multiple 4Kp60 signals can travel over a single 10 GbE link, delivered compact, low‑power HEVC processing for OB trucks, ensured frame‑accurate sync and SDN-ready switching, and cut integration time via Advantech’s SDK—resulting in scalable, interoperable 4K IP live production with measurable bandwidth and deployment efficiencies.
