Leading Worldwide HVAC Manufacturing Company - Customer Case Study

Leading Worldwide HVAC Manufacturing Company needed a compact, multi‑protocol gateway to replace legacy RF systems (BLE, Wi‑Fi, LoRa, Zigbee) and to operate reliably in poorly ventilated, high‑temperature locations. Advantech answered with the UTX‑3117 gateway, integrating Wind River Pulsar Linux OS to provide a secure, real‑time platform for smart HVAC applications.

Advantech implemented the UTX‑3117 with 3 RF expansion slots, five antennas, an Intel Apollo Lake E3900 class CPU and an optimized thermal design to sustain full workloads from -20 to 60 °C, sending building data to the cloud for real‑time monitoring and analytics. The solution consolidated multiple wireless protocols, enabled secure OTA updates and containerized application deployment, and delivered measurable platform specs (3× RF slots, 5 antennas, wide temperature support, certified edge integrations) that improved reliability, connectivity and operational visibility for the customer.
