Intelligent Parking System Powered by PC-based AGV Parking Robot

AGV Manufacturing Company built an intelligent parking AGV for parking lots, but the system needed a compact controller that could handle complex movement calculations, receive dispatch commands reliably, and fit within the vehicle’s limited space. Its earlier PLC-based approach was not fast or functional enough for the monitoring and control required.

Advantech supplied the UNO-2272G embedded automation computer with Wi‑Fi and CANopen iDoor modules, along with custom drivers and remote monitoring software. The system processes sensor data to guide the parking robots, supports monitoring of more than one hundred vehicles, and can park a car in 120 seconds. The company also reported that the accurate system can create 40% more parking spaces in congested areas.
