Highway Speed Measurement Radar with Image Processing

European Transportation Company needed a highway speed measurement and image-processing system for deployment across several European cities. The project required a rugged, low-cost industrial computer able to operate outdoors across wide temperature ranges, connect to high-resolution cameras for license-plate OCR, and support centralized monitoring and control. They partnered with Advantech and selected the UNO-2362 Embedded Automation Computer to meet these requirements.

Advantech integrated the fanless, highly rugged UNO-2362 (with iDoor expansion for fieldbus, Wi‑Fi/3G and Digital I/O and multiple networking interfaces) into the radar system cabinets to link mobile cameras and OCR systems to a central control point. The Advantech solution shortened development time, provided reliable city-wide connectivity and monitoring, and helped the system integrator win the tender and deploy the speed-measurement solution across the target cities.
