Heavy Mining Machinery Incurs High Maintenance Costs

Digital Instincts Teknologi (DIT), a Jakarta-based systems integrator, faced high maintenance costs and safety risks from operating Cat® 6030 excavators in remote, harsh mining environments where on-site repairs require skilled technicians. To enable preventative maintenance and real-time oversight, DIT selected Advantech’s TREK-570 in-vehicle computer to power a remote engine monitoring system for the Cat® 6030.

Advantech’s TREK-570, with wide-temperature tolerance, MIL-STD level vibration protection, CAN-bus support and multiple communication options (WWAN, WLAN, Bluetooth, satellite, GPS), was integrated to deliver remote engine monitoring, instant alarms, real-time stats and cloud access. The solution was deployed in 40 Cat® 6030 excavators across four mines within two months, improving data digitization and fleet management, lowering maintenance and repair costs, and prompting ongoing collaboration with Advantech.
