Far East Machinery accelerates digital transformation through WISE-PaaS smart manufacturing solutions

Far East Machinery, a 70‑year‑old comprehensive steel manufacturer in Taiwan, faced aging equipment, loss of tacit knowledge as senior technicians retire, and unreliable, manually recorded production data that hid problems until after the fact. Seeking an IIoT solution, Far East Machinery engaged Advantech (with system integrator Intelligent Cloud Plus) to deploy WISE‑PaaS and related WebAccess/EdgeSense edge software and hardware to modernize its production-line monitoring and data collection.

Advantech provided an end‑to‑end IIoT stack (EIS‑D110 edge servers, EKI‑6332GN Wi‑Fi, WebAccess/SCADA and WISE‑PaaS Dashboard) and worked with Intelligent Cloud Plus to install sensors, gateways and wireless links to enable real‑time monitoring and predictive maintenance. The Advantech solution eliminated data gaps, stabilized communications, reduced maintenance inventory and downtime, and increased monthly output from about 2,000–2,500 tons to 3,000 tons (a ~33% rise) while improving product quality and production utilization.
