Electroplating Factory faced hazardous, corrosive conditions and needed to upgrade its traditional wired control infrastructure to a reliable wireless system to protect equipment and improve worker safety. The factory required a stable wireless data acquisition solution that could support multiple sensor types; it selected Advantech’s WISE IoT Solution, including the DS‑570 embedded box PC gateway and WISE‑1020 wireless sensor nodes.

Advantech deployed a DS‑570 gateway with a WPAN control module and 35 WISE‑1020 nodes to form an IEEE 802.15.4e MESH network for remote monitoring of pH, conductivity, temperature, and water levels, with local control via the DS‑570. The Advantech solution eliminated vulnerable cabling, increased manufacturing efficiency and reduced power use, delivered 99.999% wireless reliability, and cut maintenance costs by 50%.
