Global Automotive Company, a global partner in the automotive sector developing transmissions, engines and driveline components, faced the challenge of optimizing internal asset management and reducing energy consumption without replacing existing machinery. Working with technology partner Net Surfing Srl, the customer selected Advantech’s WebAccess/SCADA (WebAccess 8.2) platform to create an open data-acquisition and monitoring layer that could collect PLC and sensor data (temperatures, pressures, flows, vibrations) and present operator-friendly dashboards accessible by smartphone, tablet or QR code.

Advantech implemented a redundant WebAccess-based IIoT solution integrated with the customer’s Infor EAM system, using ADAM device servers and edge sensors to enable remote control (notably of compressor rooms), predictive maintenance and energy monitoring. The deployment delivered measurable benefits: 4–5% overall performance improvement, reduced production waste, scheduled half-yearly maintenance and the ability to replace worn parts before failure, plus remote assistance — yielding a strong ROI with estimated amortization in about one year.
