Communication Service Providing Company - Customer Case Study

Communication Service Providing Company faced growing data rates and aggressive NFV/SDN transformation goals but was constrained by central office requirements—48 VDC NEBS‑certified equipment, strict environmental and RF limits, and limited 20" rack depth—while needing to virtualize proprietary appliances onto standard servers. Advantech addressed these challenges with its carrier‑grade SKY server family, notably the SKY‑8100 and SKY‑8200, designed to meet telecom specs and support central office workloads.

Advantech implemented the SKY‑8100 (1U, 20" deep) and SKY‑8200 (2U, 20" deep) servers with NEBS Level 3 compliance, hot‑swappable redundant PSUs/fans, advanced remote management, and high‑density PCIe I/O to enable workload consolidation and low‑latency networking and media processing. The Advantech solution allowed the Communication Service Providing Company to deploy compact, carrier‑grade x86 platforms that improve availability and serviceability, shorten development times, and lower total cost of ownership through long life‑cycle support and qualified offload options.
