City Flood Control Systems Get a Powerful IoT Solution

The UAE Storm Water Pumping Station project in Al Ain needed to upgrade and centrally manage 13 storm water pumping stations after Phase One suffered from too many integration points, expensive maintenance, single‑location management and license sprawl. Advantech supplied the core solution—APAX remote I/O (APAX‑5522 PE, APAX‑5045, APAX‑5040, APAX‑5017), UNO embedded gateways (UNO‑2272G, UNO‑2184) with 3G/4G connectivity, and Advantech WebAccess SCADA—to provide web‑based control, reporting and third‑party CCTV integration.

Advantech’s implementation linked all 13 sites over cellular networks into a single WebAccess SCADA system (5,000 I/O tags) with SQL historical data, configurable dashboards, real‑time CCTV feeds and unlimited client access. The result was centralized remote monitoring and configuration, easier engineering and expansion (hundreds of preinstalled drivers), and significantly reduced operating and maintenance costs, enabling engineers to access and manage pumps from any location.
