Chip Manufacturing Company, a major chip manufacturer, faced high risk and cost from failures in wafer‑handling robotic arms where component faults (e.g., servo motor failure) can cause severe financial loss and unplanned downtime. To enable IoT‑based preventive maintenance they engaged Advantech, deploying its Edge Intelligence Server (EIS) with WISE‑PaaS, WISE‑Agent and related edge software to gather motor vibration and temperature data from sensors and bridge to their cloud analytics.

Advantech implemented the EIS solution with WebAccess/SCADA, protocol conversion, Node‑RED logic flows and RESTful integration to the customer’s Hadoop backend, enabling edge preprocessing, real‑time alerts and automated maintenance workflows.
