A Advantech Case Study
Nan-Ya Plastics Corporation, a global leader in plastics and chemical manufacturing, needed to link multiple isolated factory buildings on its Taoyuan campus so production and machine-condition data could be monitored 24/7 from a central control room. With many existing machines and wired networks but no interbuilding wired links, the company sought a wireless bridge solution that would integrate dozens of PLCs without replacing current equipment. Advantech was selected to provide the wireless infrastructure, including its EKI-6332 industrial Wi‑Fi AP/client and associated antennas and media converters.
Advantech deployed rugged, IP55-rated AP/clients, directional antennas, surge arrestors and media converters to connect each site’s Ethernet switches and PLCs to the control center, supporting transmission distances of 30–500 m and WPA2 security. The solution converted previously isolated factories into a unified, upgrade-ready network with around-the-clock real-time monitoring, stronger device security, and support for future expansion—enabling Nan-Ya Plastics Corporation to improve equipment visibility and pursue gains in overall equipment effectiveness and faster time to market.
