A Advantech Case Study
Avex-SG Technology Inc., a Taiwanese system integrator specializing in machine tool components, faced inefficiencies from conventional stand‑alone CNCs: manual parameter adjustments that took 1–2 days or up to a week, paper-based production records, frequent downtime, and limited ability to respond to small‑volume, high‑variety orders. To overcome these constraints the company partnered with Advantech and adopted Advantech’s CNC machine tool networking solution, WebAccess/CNC, to transform customers’ CNCs into networked, intelligent equipment.
Advantech implemented WebAccess/CNC (integrated with WebAccess/VCM and deployed on hardware such as the UNO‑2483G and MIC‑7500) to connect Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Heidenhain and Siemens controllers without extra sensors, enabling machine networking in about one day. The solution enabled remote upload/download of machining programs, real‑time monitoring from PCs and mobile devices, automated production and maintenance reports, and preventive maintenance planning—reducing machine idle time, eliminating manual paper logs, accelerating setup and response to varied orders, and improving overall production visibility and efficiency.
