Automated Guided Vehicle Manufacturing Company needed a very small, low‑profile industrial single board computer with extensive I/O (including multiple LAN, USB, COM and CAN interfaces) to power a new state‑of‑the‑art AGV. No board vendors could meet their compact form factor and I/O requirements, so Advantech stepped in with its 2.5" Pico‑ITX SBC (MIO‑3260) and MIOe extension concept to address those constraints and accelerate the project timeline.

Advantech delivered the MIO‑3260—featuring an Intel Atom E3825 CPU, dual display support and a unified MIOe connector that enables customized I/O expansion (e.g., 2x LAN, 4x USB and additional COM/CAN via MIOe modules)—along with industrial reliability features (ESD protection, solid capacitors, high‑Tg PCB). By using Advantech’s modular SBC and MIOe ecosystem, the customer met their compact hardware and connectivity needs, shortened development time, and obtained a rugged, production‑ready platform for their AGVs.
