Advantech’s Uninterrupted Cold Chain Management Solution Assists an International Hypermarket

The International Hypermarket Chain, operating in Taiwan and globally, faced high risk of spoilage and regulatory exposure from temperature fluctuations across transportation, warehouses and stores while relying on manual, paper-based temperature checks. To strengthen quality control, the retailer deployed Advantech’s Cold Chain Management Solution in early 2018, including TREK-120 LoRa wireless cold chain sensors and the PWS-472 industrial-grade handheld terminal.

Advantech implemented a LoRa-based sensor network and cloud platform linking freezers, warehouses, logistics centers and suppliers so staff can scan orders with PWS-472 devices and have TREK-120 sensors automatically upload temperature, humidity and vibration data. The Advantech solution reduced manual labor, improved regulatory data retention and compliance, delivered real-time alerts for temperature anomalies, lowered spoiled-goods incidents and electricity costs, and simplified installation and long-term maintenance through low-power, long-range LoRa communications.
