Advantech’s Network Switches Ensure Always-On Connectivity for Vietnam’s ETC System

Vietnam Government sought to roll out an Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system nationwide to reduce delays and lower operating costs, requiring reliable industrial-grade switches at each toll station and uninterrupted network connectivity even if a switch failed. The government selected Advantech’s EKI-7710E-2CI DIN-rail managed Layer-2 switches to aggregate and manage IP devices (cameras, controllers) and to connect stations over fiber.

Advantech’s solution deployed EKI-7710E-2CI switches at each toll station with Ethernet–fiber media converters on uplinks and a built-in LAN bypass that automatically bridges traffic if a switch fails, guaranteeing 100% always-on network connectivity. Advantech’s user-friendly GUI and SNMP/VLAN support shortened the integrator’s learning curve, ensured compatibility with existing toll management systems, and allowed the integrator to meet all of Vietnam Government’s essential ETC requirements.
