Advantech’s High-Performance UNO-2000 Embedded Computers Deployed in Substation Inspection Robots

Leading High-Tech Company, a China-based provider of software/hardware development and system integration for the electric power industry, needed compact, rugged, high-performance embedded controllers for its new substation inspection robots to replace manual inspections. To meet limited internal space, wide operating-temperature ranges, high-speed image/GPS processing, and multiple I/O requirements, the customer turned to Advantech and its fanless UNO-2483G and UNO-2272G embedded computers.

Advantech installed the UNO-2483G in the standard robot and the palm-sized UNO-2272G in the simplified model, delivering Intel-based processing, solid-state storage, multiple I/O and iDoor expansion in a compact, -20–60 °C rated, vibration/shock‑tested package. The Advantech solution enabled fast onboard image/GPS processing, reliable wireless inspections, automatic alerts and return-to-base behavior, reduced wheel wear and lower maintenance, and improved inspection efficiency and reliability for unmanned and minimally staffed substations.
