A Advantech Case Study
Leading Electronic Equipment Manufacturing Company, a Shenzhen high-tech firm developing PCB laser drilling equipment, needed higher-efficiency, higher-precision, and lower-cost laser pulse monitoring to replace costly, non-customizable 14-bit digitizers. They required a digitizer with at least 16-bit resolution and ≥100 MS/s sampling plus customized services to speed redevelopment and enable future preventative maintenance. Advantech was engaged to meet these requirements.
Advantech supplied its PCIE-1840 16-bit, 4‑channel high-speed digitizer (125 MS/s) plus a customized FPGA and Windows driver integrated with IPC-7120 and AIMB-784 hardware to capture, accumulate, compare, and log laser pulse waveforms and trigger alarms or shutdowns on anomalies. The solution increased measurement precision (the PCIE-1840’s 16‑bit resolution and simultaneous sampling improved accuracy over the prior 14‑bit system), enabled real-time fault detection, and—per the customer—effectively increased production yield and reduced scrapping rates as the pulse-measurement system is rolled out to other models.
