Case Study: GIGATEK achieves rapid energy visibility and cost savings with Advantech EMS solution

A Advantech Case Study

Preview of the GIGATEK Case Study

Advantech helps customer quickly build energy management system

GIGATEK, a global electronics contract manufacturer with factories and offices across Taiwan, China and the U.S., was facing rising electricity costs and lacked visibility into which buildings or departments were driving consumption. Rather than develop an in‑house system, GIGATEK selected Advantech’s EMS solution (an SRP including WebAccess 8.2, HPC‑7242, ECU‑1152, WISE‑M502 meters and DS‑570 signage) to provide a ready-to-use, multi-site energy management platform that could integrate both smart and legacy meters and support digital signage for public reporting.

Advantech deployed meters and ECU‑1152 gateways to feed data to an HPC‑7242 server running WebAccess, with real‑time dashboards pushed to the DS‑570 lobby display and control‑room screens; the system also exports Excel reports and issues alerts. The solution was installed and acceptance tested within a month, enabling GIGATEK to pinpoint sources of excess consumption, move from floor‑area cost apportionment to department‑level metering, and adopt the platform as the core for broader facility monitoring and future control functions.
