85℃ Bakery Cafe updated its POS system in nearly 600 branch stores in China as market conditions changed and new payment methods made its existing IT systems insufficient for current needs. It also needed a better way to prevent cash register schemes and reduce the inefficiency of manually reviewing CCTV footage. To address these issues, 85℃ Bakery Cafe turned to Advantech and its UShop+ solution.

Advantech implemented UShop+ cash register scheme prevention across almost 600 stores, using a DS-570 embedded computer and customized IPC-7130 units with RAID1 and two 1-TB hard drives for local POS data storage and transmission. The system compares POS data with CCTV images during transactions to help reduce fraud risk and improve management efficiency. Because the solution proved effective, 85℃ Bakery Cafe also began rolling out Advantech’s energy and environmental management solution in six Shanghai stores before June, with plans to extend it to all branch stores in China by year-end.
