Inherited Problems Systems Inadequate for Practice and Clinic Management No Natural Disaster Contingency Plan

Fannett Medical Center, a rural family-practice clinic in Fannett, TX run by Nurse Practitioners Daisy and Zeus Arco, inherited a largely paper-based, outdated system in 2017 that proved inadequate for practice management and offered no disaster contingency. Serving mostly Medicare and Medicaid patients in a hurricane-prone area, the clinic needed an affordable, integrated, cloud-based solution to handle billing, scheduling, EHR and patient communication.

The practice implemented AdvancedMD’s cloud-based suite—including billing/RCM, insurance eligibility, scheduling, EHR with e-prescribing and a patient portal—providing seamless remote access and integrated workflows. When Hurricane Harvey hit, the clinic stayed open using mobile hotspots and generator power, refilled displaced patients’ medications, completed insurance and billing tasks remotely, and continued providing urgent care while many local facilities were closed, proving improved resilience and continuity of care.
