Dr. Steve Wampler’s rural family practice in Greenhill, Alabama (one physician, two nurse practitioners) faced mounting paperwork, hard-to-find paper charts, unpredictable walk-in emergencies and limited broadband access that made after-hours information retrieval and scheduling difficult. The clinic needed a way to streamline records, coordinate care across providers and enable remote access without relying on local servers.

The practice implemented the AdvancedMD cloud practice management system in 2007, added the integrated EHR in 2010 and used a T1 line to overcome connectivity limits. The integrated suite (EHR, scheduling, eligibility, billing and a patient portal) delivered anytime/anywhere access, cut time spent searching charts, improved documentation and scheduling, supported meaningful use attestation, increased patient volume to about 110% of pre-EHR levels and made on-call work and vacations far less stressful.
