A Advanced Case Study
The University of Leeds, a large UK research university, needed better control over diverse and complex purchasing across its many faculties and staff. It wanted to centrally communicate negotiated deals, enforce budgetary control on every purchase order, reduce administration, and automate the purchase-to-pay process. The university had been using Advanced Spend Management Solutions since 2001, and its challenge was to make purchasing more efficient and compliant for users including researchers and academics.
Advanced implemented a Managed Catalogue solution integrated with the university’s SAP system, plus eInvoicing to create an end-to-end procure-to-pay process. The user-friendly eMarketplace gave staff autonomy while providing Procurement with visibility, control, and compliance across categories such as computing, furniture, office, and science supplies. The solution delivered measurable efficiency and financial benefits, supporting 6,500 catalogue users who spent over £8.8 million in the marketplace in the last year alone, while helping the University of Leeds ensure every pound spent delivers value for money.
