Mercer, a leading global provider of consulting and outsourcing services, faced a scalability challenge with its critical MIDAS pension administration system. The application ran on a legacy OpenVMS Alpha cluster that was nearing capacity. With no viable commercial package available, Mercer partnered with Advanced for an application migration to a modern platform.

Advanced used its automated toolset for OpenVMS to migrate the MIDAS application. The solution transformed the OpenVMS COBOL code to Micro Focus COBOL .NET and moved the database to Oracle on Linux, deploying the application to a scalable Windows environment. Advanced completed the migration on time and within budget. This allowed Mercer to retain its unique business logic, reduce support costs, and re-focus IT resources on new development instead of maintaining the old system.
