The Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA), a UK collective rights licensing body, faced a challenge in simplifying the onerous process for higher education institutions to purchase additional copyright permissions beyond their standard license. They partnered with Advanced to develop a bespoke cloud-hosted web application to address this need.
Advanced built and delivered the solution on the Microsoft Azure platform using a Platform as a Service (PaaS) model. This implementation reduced the permission purchase process from weeks to minutes, generated incremental revenue for publishers, and provided a flexible, scalable platform for future services. Advanced's solution immediately benefited 86 universities and over one hundred publishers.
