Utility Provider Lowers Outage Response Times with GPS Tracking System
Lubbock Power & Light (LP&L), a municipal electric utility serving more than 101,000 customers, needed better vehicle management to shorten outage response times, reduce fuel use, and improve safety and accountability across its nearly 300-vehicle fleet. After evaluating options, LP&L selected Advanced Tracking Technologies’ ATTI GPS tracking system for its 10‑second live reporting, mobile apps, ease of installation, and historical reporting.
Advanced Tracking Technologies installed ATTI GPS units across the fleet (implemented in 2010 and added to new vehicles before service), enabling rapid monitoring and dispatch from office or field. The solution shortened average response time to about 30 minutes, cut idling and unauthorized use, improved routing and productivity, and produced measurable fuel savings for Lubbock Power & Light.
