Toyo Tires, a large tire manufacturer operating a 3,000,000-square-foot facility in White, Georgia, needed to refocus on its core business and move away from the increasingly complex task of managing factory parts. Before 2012, employees and local vendors handled parts management, but new equipment and specifications made it difficult to determine when parts should be repaired or replaced.
Advanced Technology Services (ATS) implemented a repairable parts management solution that included an onsite repair lab, offsite repair resources, root cause analysis, and later full storeroom management. ATS improved inventory controls, staffed and scheduled the storeroom more effectively, and added vending machines for high-use, low-value parts. Over the first three years, ATS repaired 5,446 parts and delivered $5.7 million in savings and avoidance, while improving inventory accuracy to 94% and reducing inaccurate inventory controls by nearly 71%.
