Fortune 200 Food Company Unwraps Efficiency, Saves Millions with ATS Repairable Parts Management

A Fortune 200 food company, a major multi-national manufacturer with nearly 50 North American plants, was struggling to get the most value from its manufacturing equipment parts program. Repairable assets were failing prematurely or off the shelf, causing downtime and forcing the company to buy new assemblies and cores to avoid quality concerns. The customer turned to Advanced Technology Services (ATS) through WESCO to find a Repairable Parts Maintenance (RPM) solution that could reduce maintenance costs without sacrificing reliability.

Advanced Technology Services implemented a data-driven RPM program at eight pilot U.S. facilities, using CMMS data and its proprietary repair tracking system to analyze parts usage, identify root causes, and improve repair capabilities. ATS rebuilt and refurbished critical parts, added functional testing, and reduced lead times by as much as six weeks, including a motor/spindle repair that saved about $20,000 per occurrence and a refurbished PLC parts order that saved $51,000. The program ultimately expanded to 37 facilities and delivered net savings of $1.5 million per year, with cumulative savings of $4.5 million over the first three years.
