Sub-Zero Group, Inc. Innovates with Self-Service Automation for Business Users

Sub-Zero Group, Inc., a Madison, Wisconsin–based manufacturer of premium refrigeration and cooking appliances, faced a fragmented automation environment made up of SQL Server Agent, Windows Task Scheduler and an iSeries scheduler that increased complexity and burdened IT. Seeking a single, cross-platform solution and the ability to give business users self-service control, Sub-Zero purchased ActiveBatch from Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. in 2013 to consolidate tools and enable jobs that span multiple platforms.

Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc.’s ActiveBatch delivered a single point of control with a graphical UI, event automation, alerting, the Integrated Jobs Library and reference functionality. Sub-Zero implemented self-service job triggering and alerts, automated data-warehouse extracts and FTPs, and uses template-driven reference jobs to apply one change across hundreds of servers—improving consistency, cutting maintenance time, enabling developers to build workflows in roughly half the time, and saving business users many hours each month while reducing tool sprawl.
