D&H Distributing Finds the Path to Business Agility Through IT Automation

D&H Distributing, a leading IT and electronics distributor in Harrisburg, PA, needed greater agility after migrating to Microsoft Dynamics AX exposed limitations in its legacy scheduler. Many Dynamics AX processes couldn’t be automated without heavy custom scripting, creating integration gaps—especially with BI/Cognos—and draining developer resources. At the Gartner Symposium they evaluated and selected ActiveBatch from Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. to address these challenges.

Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. deployed ActiveBatch with Extensions for Dynamics AX, Cognos, SCOM, SharePoint, TFS and VMware to consolidate automation into a single platform. D&H eliminated many one-off scripts (with up to 40% of jobs assembled from ActiveBatch’s Jobs Library), used Reference Functionality to manage large groups of jobs centrally (e.g., simplifying maintenance across ~600 of 800 jobs), sped BI file processing from one-at-a-time to processing multiple files in under five minutes, and moved to replace legacy schedulers—improving reliability, reducing manual intervention, and increasing IT agility.
