Cincinnati Bell, a multi-service telecommunications provider serving customers in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, faced a growing operational challenge: hundreds of repetitive DTS, SFTP and other batch jobs were managed as individual SQL Server Agent tasks, creating heavy maintenance overhead, weak alerting and risk of missed or incomplete files — especially as SQL Server 2000 support for DTS was ending. To address this, Cincinnati Bell evaluated and selected ActiveBatch Workload Automation from Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc.
Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. implemented ActiveBatch to centralize workflows, pass variables between steps, use built‑in FTP job steps and add proactive validations and alerting. The solution let Cincinnati Bell consolidate roughly 100 SQL Server Agent jobs into 4 ActiveBatch Plans, catch file or data mismatches before FTPs ran, and receive immediate email/SMS alerts on failures — reducing manual checks, avoiding customer-impacting errors and saving considerable time and effort.
