GNSS Compass Keeps The Naïo Technologies “Ted” Agricultural Robot Accurately Tending Vineyards

Naïo Technologies, a French pioneer in agricultural robotics, needed a highly precise heading and motion solution for its Ted autonomous vineyard robot. In tight vineyard rows, with uneven terrain, wheel slip, and the need for stationary “cold start” heading, the robot had to stay accurately oriented to avoid damaging vines and to support fully autonomous operation.

Advanced Navigation supplied its GNSS Compass, an all-in-one GNSS/INS solution with dual-antenna heading and integrated IMU, which simplified installation and integration with ROS while improving reliability in harsh field conditions. With Advanced Navigation’s GNSS Compass, Naïo Technologies achieved about 1° heading accuracy, smoother and more stable turning, better robot-centre calculation, and the ability to determine heading without moving, increasing operational efficiency and making the system suitable for both large and smaller robots.
