The College of Science at a public state university faced the challenge of recruiting high-performing STEM students online without a database to target them by academic performance. They partnered with the vendor Advance Ohio to develop a digital campaign aimed at increasing enrollment of top prospects.

Advance Ohio implemented a strategy that used geo-targeted mobile ads focused on high-performing high schools, followed by a retargeting campaign for engaged users. This small sub-$3,000 budget delivered 250,000 impressions and yielded impressive results for the university: a significant 88.3% increase in admitted students and a 79% rise in Honors College enrollments from the College of Science.
