A Adtran Case Study
Sycamore Telephone Company (STC), a service provider in Ohio, sought to expand its broadband market to enhance the communities it served. The challenge was to find a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) solution that would enable rapid service turn-up and scale to support Gigabit broadband for new residential and business customers. To meet this goal, they turned to their trusted vendor, Adtran.
Adtran provided its Total Access 5004 solution, an ultra-compact Multi-Service Access Platform that drastically reduced the cost and time of FTTH installations. This solution enabled STC to successfully expand services into the nearby city of Upper Sandusky, a move that increased their addressable service market by five times. The results were significant, providing the vital connectivity needed for economic development; a specific, measurable impact was the revitalization of a formerly abandoned factory, which reopened as a manufacturing warehouse, adding jobs and boosting the local economy.
