Case Study: M-Net achieves gigabit FTTB services with ADTRAN Gfast solutions

A Adtran Case Study

Preview of the M-Net Telekommunikations GmbH Case Study

Elevating FTTB VDSL2 to meet the needs of Germany’s Gigabit Societies

M-Net Telekommunikations GmbH, a leading fibre optic provider in Bavaria, Germany, faced the challenge of rapidly expanding its FTTx network to offer multi-gigabit services. They needed a solution that utilized their existing copper infrastructure to deliver the lowest cost and fastest time to market, as their incumbent vendors could not meet these speed and deployment requirements.

Adtran provided its second-generation 212MHz Gfast fiber extension solutions, including Distribution-Point-Units and Customer Premises Equipment. This solution enabled M-Net to immediately offer gigabit services over its existing FTTB infrastructure. The deployment was significantly faster and more cost-effective than a full fiber rollout, and the technology proved more reliable and robust with a lower carbon footprint. Adtran's modified housing also allowed for the seamless replacement of existing VDSL units without new drilling.
