ADTRAN’s vWLAN Solution Replaces Ruckus Wireless to Eliminate Wi-Fi Complexity and Maximize Cost Savings

PRTC, a communications provider serving Laurens County, SC, was struggling with a costly and complex hardware-controller-based Wi-Fi solution from Ruckus Wireless. The system was difficult to manage and its limitations prevented the company from expanding Wi-Fi coverage to all locations or launching a guest access service for visitors. This high-maintenance legacy architecture required significant ongoing hardware investments.

To resolve this, PRTC deployed ADTRAN’s vWLAN solution. This software-based approach virtualized the control and management functions, eliminating the need for expensive hardware controllers. The results for PRTC included reliable, seamless Wi-Fi across all locations, simplified network management, and the successful launch of guest access. ADTRAN's solution provided enormous scaling capacity, which delivered ongoing cost savings by abolishing costly hardware investments and reducing the total cost of ownership.
