A AdRem Software Case Study
Peter Symonds College, the largest publicly funded sixth-form college in the UK, supports about 4,000 users with over 100 virtualized servers, two SANs, roughly 1,600 PCs and laptops, campus-wide wireless and some 80 switches — all managed by a six-person IT team. The staff needed an easy-to-use, effective monitoring solution to proactively manage this complex estate and stop relying on users to report problems.
The college deployed AdRem NetCrunch, using its built-in monitoring policies, web console and modest system requirements to quickly scan and monitor 78 switches and 110 servers from a single Windows desktop. NetCrunch identified issues (like low disk space), sends grouped alerts and real-time console notifications, performs automatic backups and produces uptime reports — resulting in continuous oversight, faster issue resolution, improved uptime and better capacity planning.
