A ADP Case Study
GEICO, a national insurance company headquartered in Chevy Chase with about 40,000 employees, initially believed it was ineligible for federal disaster tax credits after recent hurricanes because its locations never fully shut down. Skeptical about other incentives as well, GEICO’s tax and HR teams almost dismissed ADP’s outreach to review potential credits.
ADP SmartCompliance’s tax-credit experts showed that locations rendered inoperable — even without a full closure — could qualify, and their analysis helped GEICO claim an almost seven-figure hurricane employee retention tax credit. ADP also implemented the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (and leveraged the HIRE Act provision), producing roughly $4.5 million in credits over 18 months; the work met tight deadlines, was seamless to implement, and strengthened GEICO’s trust in ADP.
