The City of John’s Creek, a fast-growing Atlanta suburb of about 83,000 residents with roughly 240 employees, brought on Mary Ann Haskins as its first HR director and inherited an almost entirely paper- and Excel-based HR operation. Manual hiring, frequent payroll and benefits errors, no employee self-service, and complex police/fire schedules left the department overwhelmed and inefficient.
Partnering with ADP, the city implemented integrated payroll, timekeeping, recruitment and employee self-service (including a mobile app) and worked with ADP to build custom timekeeping solutions for shift-based roles. The changes reduced errors, sped hiring and processing, eliminated the need to add staff, improved employee access and satisfaction, and gave leadership confidence in payroll and tax accuracy.
