E. & J. Gallo Winery, a family‑owned leader founded in 1933 with 7,000+ employees and 130+ brands, needed to make individual labels and packaging pop in a crowded retail aisle while maintaining consistent branding, meeting regulatory and bottling constraints, and coordinating a high‑volume centralized design team. The core challenge was scaling design work and keeping internal teams and external suppliers aligned across print, digital, and packaging channels.
Gallo responded by systemizing design with brand‑specific style guides and shared design systems, standardizing workflows around Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) and using a Creative Ambassador program for training and tips. The result: consistent global branding, scalable activations across channels and packaging, faster approvals and proofing, and the ability to effectively manage roughly one‑third of the U.S. wine and spirits market while helping consumers navigate the “sea of labels.”
