Varian Medical Systems, a Palo Alto–based maker of radiation treatment solutions founded in 1948 with about 10,000 employees, set out to accelerate its digital transformation to reduce administrative burden and improve patient care. Facing heavy regulatory paperwork across product design, service, contracts and HR, the company needed a scalable e-signature solution to streamline workflows, support remote work, and speed interactions with hospitals and clinics worldwide.

Varian migrated from DocuSign to Adobe Acrobat Sign, rolling out 10,000 SSO-enabled accounts with automatic provisioning and integrating the tool with Salesforce Service Cloud, its CLM system and Workday. The two-month deployment enabled automated field-service reports, faster contract and hiring signatures (onboarding 250 new hires in two months and supporting 500+ remote hires since January 2020), improved customer responsiveness, and an expected increase in e-signature volume from about 8,000 to roughly 300,000 transactions per year.
