U.S. Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (USHPA) - Customer Case Study

The U.S. Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (USHPA), working with freelance designer Greg Gillam of Red Sands Production Co., wanted to turn a short hang-gliding safety film into a more engaging, widely distributable digital publication for the iPad. The challenge was to enhance the film with interactivity and richer content while keeping the project on budget and avoiding costly development work.

Using Adobe Digital Publishing Suite Single Edition and Adobe InDesign CS5.5, Gillam created the Preflight Safety for Hang Gliding app—combining the full ten-minute film with articles, photos, audio interviews, and 360° glider views—by repurposing existing production assets and adding interactive overlays without coding. The result was a cost-effective, engaging app downloaded by enthusiasts in 18 countries, with plans for additional projects.
