A Adobe Case Study
Ball State University built an immersive-learning initiative to give undergraduates real-world digital publishing experience but needed a way to teach industry-relevant skills, expand student media into tablet formats, and support cross-disciplinary projects that meet academic goals. The challenge was equipping students to design, develop, and publish professional digital content and apps while integrating faculty guidance and external partnerships.
The university launched a Digital Publishing Studio powered by Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, where students produce tablet apps and digital editions (including Ball Bearings, 72 HRS, and Sports Link) and collaborate with professionals on university and partner projects. The studio has published multiple issues, increased digital distribution and analytics capabilities, and helped students secure internships and jobs (for example at TIME and Indianapolis Monthly), fulfilling Ball State’s immersive-learning and career-preparation objectives.
