Transforming the transportation experience

Metra, Chicago’s regional commuter rail service operating 239 stations and about 700 weekday trains, needed to modernize a dated website that limited content updates, provided static schedules, and couldn’t support mobile, personalized alerts, or online ticketing. The agency wanted faster, real-time communications for occasional and regular riders, easier schedule management, and a multichannel approach to deliver timely service advisories.

Working with Acquity Group, Metra standardized on Adobe Experience Manager to deliver a mobile-optimized, personalized web and mobile experience, integrate e-commerce via Blue Martini, and push real-time alerts to web, mobile, email, and social channels. Since launch the site averages 40,000 unique visitors per day (peaking at 80,000), traffic rose to about 2.5 million hits/day (a 178% increase), online ticketing is up 200% (≈350 daily sales), and thousands of My Metra profiles were created within weeks.
