The School of Visual Arts prepares students for career success with new content and communication skills, powered by Adobe Digital Publishing Suite

The School of Visual Arts’ MFA Designer as Author + Entrepreneur program needed to give graduating designers real-world, marketable skills for the tablet era—teaching digital publishing and entrepreneurship while minimizing the learning curve so students could turn design theses into publishable products. The challenge was to add a digital, tablet-ready dimension to student projects and prepare them for careers that increasingly demand tablet content creation.

SVA integrated Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (Single Edition) with familiar tools like InDesign, launched a dedicated course, and published an annual tablet magazine (Ideopolis) and student apps for iPad. The result: richer, interactive thesis presentations, apps on iTunes and exhibitions in NYC and Tokyo, direct industry feedback (including Condé Nast), and graduates equipped to create, distribute, and optimize tablet publications—strengthening career readiness and entrepreneurial outcomes.
