Surviving the mission to Mars in Netflix’s Stowaway

Netflix’s *Stowaway* faced a major post-production challenge when the pandemic hit mid-edit, forcing co-writer/editor Ryan Morrison and director Joe Penna to work remotely while the colorist and DP were in Germany. Adobe tools—especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Productions—were chosen to support a flexible, collaborative workflow for the film’s remote editing and visual planning needs.

Adobe helped the team coordinate efficiently by letting multiple users work simultaneously in Premiere Pro without overwriting each other’s work, while Productions reduced wait times on large projects. After Effects enabled quick effect mockups to preserve scene rhythm, and Photoshop helped communicate VFX concepts. Adobe’s workflow also supported remote color review using calibrated iPad Pros, and the team reported a smoother, more efficient post-production process with better collaboration and faster iteration.
