Steelcase uses the flexible architecture in Magento Commerce to meet the unique needs of each business customer

Steelcase, a century-old leader in office furniture, faced a digital transformation challenge: its bespoke e-commerce platform couldn't handle a highly complex, build-to-order business that serves individual consumers, dealers, and large enterprises. An audit found more than 25 quadrillion possible SKUs, and Steelcase needed a flexible architecture that could integrate with customer e-procurement systems and support thousands of customized B2B sites.

Steelcase implemented Magento Commerce (Commerce Cloud) with PunchOut Catalogs and direct integrations to Ariba, SAP, and Jaggaer, using a catalog-builder integration, configurable product identities, and a “chooser” to route orders and tailor catalogs per customer. The result is a scalable multi-site platform that simplifies the buying experience, supports thousands of bespoke customer sites, manages the massive SKU complexity, and drives roughly 90% of B2B sales through online channels.
