Sotheby's - Customer Case Study

Sotheby’s, the venerable auction house founded in 1744, produces more than 300 auctions a year and has long relied on richly produced print catalogues cherished by its global, sophisticated clientele. The company faced the challenge of engaging increasingly mobile buyers, delivering timely catalogues across multiple media, and keeping production costs under control while preserving the scholarship and design quality of its print editions.

Sotheby’s adopted Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (Enterprise Edition) with an InDesign workflow and Adobe Digital Marketing Suite to build the Sotheby’s Catalogues iPad app, adding video, 360° views, pinch-and-zoom, bookmarking, note-taking, and real-time auction results. The new workflow produced a richer, more convenient client experience, provided analytics-driven insights into popular content, streamlined production, and avoided the cost of creating hundreds of separate catalogue apps.
